PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD

The  Fleafest 2013  “People’s Choice Award”  is the third of many unique and highly original sculptures commissioned by the Muskoka Seaflea Executive.  This year the award features a platinum and bronze cast piston floating above an eight sided hand-carved Jatoba pedestal representative of the eight “core values of life” as dictated by Poseidon.  The solid 24 carat gold propeller has been precisely pitched to 18.225 inches which is the identical pitch carved into the Miss Canada  IV prop when she took the world speed title.  This prestigious award is presented to the individual whose seaflea has been determined to be the most popular of the day.  This is based on the total amount of votes cast by both participants and viewers.  This is truly a treasure of momentous and classical beauty never seen before now.

Congratulations to Tyler Ricketts who is the recipient of the  2013 People’s Choice Award with his beautifully restored  “Muskoka Mosquito” originally built by his grandfather in 1949.   Pictures of this 11′ Utility hydro can be seen in our Fleafest Photo Galleries.

The Fleafest 2012  “People’s Choice Award” was the second of many unique and highly original sculptures commissioned by the Muskoka Seaflea Executive.    Melanie Mitchell was the winner of last years People’s Choice Award for the most popular seaflea.   Melanie became the second girl to win this event with her Pink-tastic “She-Flea”!    This makes two years in a row that girls have defeated the guys!    Girls ROCK!   Last year’s trophy featured an 18K solid gold hydroplane surrounded by a dazzling array of bronze plated spark plugs   All of these elements were lovingly mounted on (a sustainable procurement of) exotic Brazilian Walnut which was then hand rubbed with 52 coats of varnish.*  This is truly a treasure of momentous and classical beauty never seen before now.

The Fleafest 2011 “People’s Choice Award” was the first of many unique and highly original sculptures commissioned by the Muskoka Seaflea Executive.  This prestigious award was presented to the individual whose seaflea was determined to be the most popular of the day based on the total amount of votes cast by both participants and viewers.  The 2011 Award was assembled by utilizing two opposing 1962 Mercury dynafloat covers and the reflector from a miniature halogen pot light.  Both of these components were lovingly placed on hand carved solid wooden mounts.  The most unique feature of this “trophy – du – art” was the self-contained illumination system that created our own-patented “glow-of-control” atmospheric lighting effect.  Congratulations to Ellie Godfrey of Kahshe Lake who was our 2011 People’s Choice Award Winner.
